The Christmas Chronicles: Movie Review

A new Netflix movie was released recently starring Kurt Russell. I just finished watching it and I loved it. Below are my thoughts on the film, including the trailer and “no spoilers” to ruin the fun if you decide to watch it.

My Review

Like most movie trailers we see these days, some of the best lines and action scenes are shown. But don’t despair. This film has plenty of parts that aren’t shown in the trailer that are real gems. There’s one scene in particular that I really liked, but of course I’m not going to tell you what it is! You’ll just have to see for yourself.

I found The Christmas Chronicles to be entertaining from beginning to end. The story takes place in current day and depicts a “modern” Santa. Two kids are involved of course, because what good is a Christmas movie with no children in it? The plot is quick-paced with plenty of action, special effects, and likable characters. In my opinion, it’s one of those ‘feel-good’ flicks that completely immerses you into the fantasy and lets you forget about reality for an hour or two.

On a side note, I must say that I was thrilled to see Kurt Russell on-screen again. I know he’s been in other films lately, but it’s been a while since I’ve personally seen him in one. Santa Claus isn’t a role I would expect from him, but he played the part perfectly, with his usual good humor and swagger.

Wrapping Up

If you’re in the mood to watch a seasonal movie that’s fun, non-violent, and safe for most kids, then I recommend tuning your TV to Netflix and watching The Christmas Chronicles. I’m pretty sure you won’t regret it…

Unless you’re a Scrooge of course.

Update: This is still available on Netflix as of January 3, 2019
